welcome!

This has been a LONNNG time coming for anyone who knows me. I found myself itching to get this website up and running, but couldn’t commit myself to a name or an identity. Who did I want to be known as? What did I want this to really represent? Then it just came to me: Sustaining Sloan. This is why I find it so serendipitous:

sustain: *(according to Merriam Webster)
sus·tain \ sə-ˈstān \
1: to give support or relief to
2 : to supply with sustenance: nourish
3 : keep up, prolong
4 : to support the weight of : prop; also : to carry or withstand (a weight or pressure)
5 : to buoy up
6 a : to bear up under
b : suffer, undergo
7 a : to support as true, legal, or just
b : to allow or admit as valid (the court sustained the motion)
8 : to support by adequate proof : confirm (testimony that sustains our contention)

All the language within a simple definition resonates with me. Why am I here? To give support and relief to those who come here to find recipes and posts about battling autoimmune disease (like me, Hashimotos diagnosis since I was 15). To provide information and help in the journey of seeking wellness. To prolong and support the efforts we put in every single day. To sometimes suffer and relate to the various personal struggles along the way. Not to mention the legalese part of the definition; in May I’ll be a lawyer (!!!!!).

So, welcome aboard! I’ll be sharing recipes, blog posts, tips, tricks, and wellness advice that I’ve found to be useful over the years. My goal is to help in any way that I can. It’s a big world out there and I’m here to connect people through food and wellness.

Cheers!
